Crisis Centre Created

The Good News Lovelines Crisis Centre was founded on April 2, 2002 after the Director of Good News to the Nations, Ms. Elizabeth Fosu, met the Director of the Love Lines Crisis Center of St Paul's, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Prior to this meeting, which occured during the Amsterdam 2000 conference, Good News to the Nations only did Street Outreach counselling.

Ms. Fosu, a former banker and building contractor accepted the call of the Lord to go into ministry and attented the Amsterdam 2000 Conference where her confidence to do God's work was strengthened. After the contact with Lovelines, Miss Fosu, received training manuals on how to setup and operate a phone-in counselling centre.

After an extensive search for an office space to house the counselling centre, an office lot was secured at the Tema Exhibitions and Industrial Fair Centre, Texpo, Spintex Road, Tema. An appeal was launched to raise funds to rent and furnish the office throughout 2001.

We moved into the office space on April 2, 2002. We had two office rooms - one for in-person counselling and one for telephone-counselling and administrative work. When we moved in, we posted advertising bills all over Accra and Ashaiman and before long, we started receiving calls. Some callers wanted in-person counselling and therefore came to the Centre. The Almighty God who brought us here and drew the people to the Centre started ministering to them throught us. As at now, over 100 have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and more than ten have received the Holy Spirit baptism. One woman who felt pressurized by her husband to abort her pregnancy, after receiving counselling gave birth to a handsome baby boy. Many who have been healed and delivered from their bondage have come to testify.

Since we moved in without much publicity in April, we had a more publicized launching ceremony on the 30th of Novermber, 2002. Though GTV, the national television station, had agreed to give us coverage, scheduling conflict due to the celebration of the National AIDS Day made it impossible for them to cover our little event. We still had a beautiful launching ceremony and we trust that we will find more funding to publicize the Centre as God uses us to bless the lives of those in need of counselling.

We trusted God to see us through for we know a lot are hurting, troubled and oppressed in our cities of Accra, Tema and Ashaiman and only God who created us has an answer to all our troubles. The counsel we give is based on the word of God, for we believe that God has a word for every situation we may find ourselves in, in His book, the Bible.

The Crisis Centre is here for the body of Christ as well as for those yet to be saved. We seek to give emotional support and Biblical counsel to those who seek solace in their time of crisis. Anyone who needs someone to talk to for Biblical counsel will call us for we are ready to be used by God to help anyone who calls. We are praying for a day when we will be able to run the Crisis Centre 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, all year round. Even if you do not believe in Christ, or do not believe you need Biblical counsel, but need someone to talk to for emotional support, we urge you to talk with us and we will minister to your needs.

God richly bless you and all those dear to your heart. We care because Jesus cares for us all.

Amen.
